Breeder Services

Breeders will find our staff experienced in providing the latest reproductive technologies. These include breeding soundness exams, progesterone testing, artificial inseminations with fresh and cooled extended semen as well as surgical insemination of frozen semen. We offer ultrasonic pregnancy diagnosis as well as whelping assistance including C-sections if necessary.

Through the marvels of DNA testing, dogs of vague or unrecognizable ancestry — whether fluffy white mongrels with Chihuahua ears and beagle-like voices or massive hounds that resemble nothing previously seen in nature — are being exposed for what they really are, genetically speaking. Laboratory and Radiology

We have extensive in-house laboratory equipment. You can receive same day results for many routine diagnostic tests including complete blood counts, blood chemistry profiles, urinalysis, heatworm/lyme/erhichia/anaplasma testing, feline leukemia and FIV testing. We also use the services of several veterinary diagnostic laboratories.

We provide routine and emergency diagnostic imaging as well as OFA and PennHip screenings performed by our radiology department. The Animal Ultrasound Clinic in Salem and/or Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn meet your pet’s need for ultrasound, endoscope and cardiology consultations.

Emergency Coverage

Your veterinary emergency will be taken care of at Bay State during hospital hours. After hours we refer patients to the Essex County Veterinary Emergency Hospital in North Andover or the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn. Both of these sister hospitals are dedicated to emergency and critical care patients.
