Life Saving Medicine!
Jasper Spates

Jasper was adopted by his mom Sue when he was about 12 years old, in early '06. In March of '07, Jasper began vomiting more than usual, losing weight and hiding. After some blood tests, ultrasound exams, and scoping with biopsies, he was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma of the intestines (cancer). After a series of treatment trials, Sue and Dr. MacNamee settled on an effective chemotherapy regime which has worked very well. After having been down to about 7 1/2 lbs, hiding most of the day, and vomiting frequently, he is now back up to 11 1/2 lbs, is very social and playful, and rarely vomits. His last biopsy showed NO cancer, and his medications are being reduced with an eye toward possibly getting him off all medication. Mom, Jasper and Samantha cat, 14, have just added another family member from a local rescue group. Kudos to Sue Spates for her steadfast compliance with Jasper's treatment and for adopting older children from shelters!
